About Me
I was born in London shortly after the Second World War and was raised by my mother, together with my sister. Known as a disruptive student with little interest in formal education, I left school early and spent 14 years qualifying as a civil engineer. This path eventually led me to become a director at one of the UK’s largest development companies.
To escape the high-pressure demands of my career, I turned to the arts—exploring painting, theatre, music, and, most prominently, photography. After many years, I chose to pursue photography more seriously, using the extensive network of contacts I had built during my previous career to begin working professionally in the field.
Approaching this new chapter with the same commitment I had shown during my engineering training, I studied photography as a profession. Photography has been a passion of mine since 1967, allowing me to capture a wide range of places, people, and clients. My work has led to interviews in professional photography publications and fashion magazines, including Brides and Devon Life, among others. I have also worked within the media and been interviewed about my projects with people with disabilities, using photography as a form of creative stimulation.
During my professional career, I encountered the unique challenge of living by the sea, where 50% of the local area was coastal and the remainder largely comprised of retired residents, with limited commercial activity. Drawing on my professional network, I chose to focus on fashion, luxury products, and wedding photography.
Now retired, I enjoy photographing subjects of my own choosing, sharing knowledge with fellow enthusiasts, and continuing to collaborate with models—some of whom have been featured in professional publications over many years. This book, requested by many who follow my work, offers a brief insight into the ideas and inspirations behind my photography.
